"Very short" but very good.
Hermione Lee takes the reader on a tour of the biography from from antiquity to the present day, always maintaining a critical distance and humour throughout.
A primer; it strikes me that that the contents are easily applied to new biography forms (and tools) manifest in social media.
Barthes was wrong.
